HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL
Banton was originally founded on residential and housing work, and the firm continues to enjoy working with local developers and residential homeowners. Throughout the firm’s history, Banton has constructed custom homes, as well as condominiums, college dormitories and elderly housing facilities.
Below is a brief sampling of Banton’s key housing and residential projects:
|
Sinsabaugh Heights Elderly Housing – Shelton, CT
This project consisted of the construction of forty units of elderly housing and a community building. The facility was constructed on a twelve acre parcel of land and included full site development. Sitework challenges included extensive rock removal, dewatering and extremely steep grades. The overall site had to be reworked as the City of Shelton does not allow a drive to exceed a 10 percent grade. All walks and unit entrances had to maintain minimum grade changes to allow for full senior and handicap resident accessibility

Central Connecticut State University Gallaudet Hall – New Britain, CT
The Gallaudet Hall project involved the complete interior demolition and renovation of the existing eight story residence hall. This included converting the flat roof to a gable style with structural steel and standing seam roofing. The project also encompassed the full replacement of the building’s mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems. Other components included the installation of new windows throughout the building, restoration of exterior masonry, application of gyp-crete floors, replacement of gypsum board systems and interior finishes.
